About this speaker
George Barnett is in his fifth season as the offensive line coach at the University of Iowa, having joined the program in 2021. Under Barnett’s leadership, Iowa's offensive line has become one of the best in the nation, with the 2024 unit being named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award and leading the Big Ten in rushing. In 2024, all five of Iowa's starting offensive linemen earned All-Big Ten honors, and the Hawkeyes rushed for 200+ yards in a program-record eight games.
Before arriving at Iowa, Barnett spent seven seasons at Miami (OH), where he coached seven All-MAC players and helped the RedHawks win the 2019 MAC Championship. At Miami, Barnett’s offensive line ranked among the conference's best in rushing and pass protection, allowing just 31 sacks in 2019.
Barnett also had successful stints at Illinois State, Grand Valley State, and Indianapolis, where his lines consistently ranked among the nation's top units. Notably, he mentored NFL talent and helped Grand Valley State’s offense rank in the top 10 nationally in multiple categories, including rushing and sacks allowed.
Barnett's coaching legacy includes developing both NFL-caliber talent and some of the most productive offensive lines in college football.
