Phil Trautwein

Offensive Line Coach, Penn State

Penn State

About this speaker

Phil Trautwein is in his sixth season as Penn State’s offensive line coach, overseeing one of the most productive and NFL-ready units in the country. Since 2020, seven Nittany Lion offensive linemen have been selected in the NFL Draft—tied for second nationally—including 2024 first-rounder Olumuyiwa Fashanu, who earned consensus All-America honors and was named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year. Under Trautwein, Penn State’s 2024 offensive line helped the team lead the Big Ten in rushing (202.3 YPG) and produced two 1,000-yard rushers for the first time in school history.

Over his last seven seasons between Penn State and Boston College, Trautwein has coached 31 all-conference linemen. At Boston College, his 2019 line ranked third nationally in sacks allowed and helped the Eagles average 267.8 rushing yards per game—fifth-best in the FBS. His players included first-round picks Chris Lindstrom (2019) and Zion Johnson (2022), and multiple NFL-caliber linemen including Tyler Vrabel and Alec Lindstrom.

Trautwein has also coached in the College Football Playoff and multiple New Year’s Six bowls. A two-time All-SEC tackle and national champion at Florida, he brings elite pedigree as both a player and developer of offensive line talent.
