About this speaker
Ryan Clanton is in his third season as Iowa State’s offensive line coach and was named run game coordinator in 2024. His offensive front played a pivotal role in the Cyclones' historic 11-win season, helping the team rush for 25 touchdowns—the fourth-most in school history—and reach the Big 12 Championship game. Under Clanton, Iowa State has jumped from 108.0 to 160.5 rushing yards per game over two seasons and allowed just 30 sacks across 27 games, ranking among the nation’s top-15 in pass protection.
Prior to Iowa State, Clanton served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Northern Iowa, where he developed two future NFL starters: first-round pick Trevor Penning (Saints) and third-round pick Spencer Brown (Bills). In 2022, his UNI offense ranked top-20 nationally in total offense and was fourth in third-down conversion rate (52%).
Across five seasons at UNI, Clanton coached eight All-Missouri Valley offensive linemen, including multiple All-Americans. He also led Ventura College’s offensive line and coordinated one of the most efficient JUCO offenses in California.
As a player, Clanton was a captain and multi-position starter at Oregon under Chip Kelly, helping the Ducks to a 36–4 record and victories in the Rose and Fiesta Bowls.
